PROCEDURE

  1. Clean your WinCLD diskette drive:

Note: This procedure involves stopping WinCLD program. This will temporarily result in printer error messages on a Panasonic system, so it should only be done during a low volume period. During this process, you will indicate "Yes" and "No" by pressing numbered keys. The choices change each time, so you won't accidentally press "Yes" twice and skip over a step.

You can obtain a diskette drive head cleaning kit at any office supply store.

bulletMake sure you have at least 3 diskettes for each year you have had your WinCLD.
bulletExit WinCLD program by pressing the Esc key and entering the quitting password.
bulletChoose 2 - SAVE YOUR PRODUCT MIX DATABASE TO DISKETTE(S).
bulletYou will be prompted to clean your diskette drive. Don't skip this step. A restaurant is not the best environment for a computer drive.
bulletPrepare the cleaning diskette. This usually involves applying a few drops of cleaning solution to the cleaning diskette.
bulletInsert the cleaning diskette into WinCLD diskette drive.
bulletPress the "1" key to clean the drive. It will take about 30 seconds.
    bulletEject the cleaning diskette.
bulletWait 5 minutes for the cleaning solution to dry.

  2. Backup your product mix to diskettes:
bulletInsert the first backup diskette in WinCLD diskette drive.
bulletFollow instructions on the screen, feeding new diskettes when requested.
bulletWhen cleaning is complete, you will return to the main menu.

  3. Insert the upgrade diskette and perform the upgrade:
bulletInsert the upgrade diskette in WinCLD diskette drive.
bulletChoose 1 - RESTART (REBOOT) THE CABINET LEVEL DISPLAY COMPUTER.
bulletWinCLD will detect your upgrade diskette. Press "8" to continue.
bulletPress the number corresponding to your POS system. For any touch-screen register, choose "1". For Pan-2, press "2".
bulletWhen the upgrade is complete, eject the diskette.

  4. Restart WinCLD and make sure it is working properly:
bulletPress the "1" key to restart WinCLD.
bulletOnce WinCLD is up and running, press the "8" key.
bulletMake sure orders are being properly received and processed.
bulletIf no orders are being received, you may need to reboot the register that your WinCLD is connected to.

Note: Remember to eject the diskette after completing the installation and before rebooting the computer after the installation. Otherwise, the installation process will begin again.

While there have been no known cases where WinCLD computer did not function properly after installing an upgrade, there is an "UNDO" function to roll-back an upgrade if necessary:

bulletConnect the full-size keyboard to WinCLD.
bulletExit WinCLD program by pressing the Esc key and entering the quitting password.
bulletPress 'Q' to exit to DOS.
bulletType UNDO at the C:\WinCLD prompt, and press the Enter key.
bulletType WinCLD and press the Enter key to restart WinCLD program.
